Discover 7 fashion trends that are set to take over in 2024

A new year is approaching, and that means a whole new set of trends in the fashion world. Fashion is forever changing with styles going in and out of fashion and sometimes it can be hard keeping up with whats new in. Over this next year, fashion will be bold, out there, and made up of things you probably wouldn’t have dared to wear last year; but that’s the great thing about fashion.

In this post, I’ll be sharing 7 fashion trend predictions set to take over in 2024. All these trends are great as not only are they all super wearable, but they are great ways to step out of your comfort zone and try a style you may not have tried before. So, if you want to get an idea of what fashion pieces you should buy, this is for you.

1. No Pants

Towards the end of 2023, there were a lot of big fashion brands incorporating the no trousers look, but in 2024, this trend is really going to take off and be seen frequently. The short shorts trend has been seen on the Miu Miu runway and by trend-setting celebs like Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa. Though you may see this as an unwearable trend and probably not something you can add to everyday fashion, this trend will be taking over in the next few seasons.

2. Pure White

It’s the IT colour of the season. White will be all over the fashion scene, from sheer white dresses to heeled boots; all white is the look. This may not seem like a very practical trend, but there’s something about the colour white that makes every outfit look more classy and elegant, and as designers seem to be going for a more chic look this year, this is perfect. The main focus is white dresses with lightweight, flowy materials, so while everything white will be the trend, a white dress is the way to go if you want to do this trend right.

3. Rugby Polos

The sports chic look is about to be the hottest trend in 2024. Many fashion icons like Rihanna and Bella Hadid have taken classic rugby polos and football shirts and made them chic. Instead of the casual, running-around look you think sportswear is, sportswear is taking the more sophisticated approach, with rugby polos worn under blazers, maxi skirts, and even on their own as a dress. This trend is taking your dad’s old sports shirts and making them a wardrobe must-have.

4. Florals

Now, the floral pattern trend may not seem groundbreaking for 2024, but designers are opting for dramatic flower embroidery and large floral designs, making it stand out as one of the top trends for the new year. You’ll see many pieces with statement, extra large flower arrangements that take up the entire surface, so whether you like floral designs or not, get used to seeing them, as they will be major statements in many outfits this year.

5. Business Casual

The business casual look we started to see at the end of 2023 will fully take off again in 2024, with two piece suits and blazer co-ord being the new “in” thing. Even though trouser suits are a staple for the business casual style, short suits will be just as popular. On the Chanel and Loewve runways, bermuda-length short suits and blazers paired with long, loose-fitting shorts were prominent features of the show. Not only that but skirts have been seen styled many times in the smart casual style, so get your suits ready, as it seems like they’ll be the go-to.

6. Simply Elegant

In 2023, it was all about the low-rise jeans, crop tops, and mini skirts, but in 2024, we’re bringing back the elegant look with a-line silhouettes, maxi skirts, and kitten heels. A more modest style of dressing will be on the rise during 2024, with more covered up and loose-fitting outfits seen on the runways. This isn’t to say mini skirts and crops aren’t going to be worn at all, but they’ll be seen less. So get ready to be in your elegant era and start adding maxi skirts, tailored shirts, and ballet pumps to your wardrobe.

7. Bows

Attention to detail is always important when it comes to fashion, as it’s the details that can really make a difference. Feminine touches are always popular in fashion pieces, and this year, it looks like bows are about to be the must-have detail. The dainty feature adds a soft and elegant look to your wardrobe staples and elevates the look to the next level. Whether you prefer small details or large statement pieces, the bow trend is about to be huge in 2024, so you better start finding ways to incorporate them into your looks.

I hope this has helped you get ready for the fashion trends of 2024 and helped you figure out what you’ll be adding to your wardrobe for the following year. For some, trends are great, and they are a great way of switching up your wardrobe and trying something new, but for others, they’d rather stay away from trends and have a more staple wardrobe.
